Actor Burt Reynolds Facing Eviction from Florida Home
Television and film actor Burt Reynolds is in danger of getting evicted from his home in southeast Florida.
Media reports stated the mortgage on his home in Hobe Sound, about 100 miles north of Miami, was originally taken out in 1994.
Reynolds is facing foreclosure after he stopped making his mortgage payments about one year ago. He now owes the Merrill Lynch Credit Corp. almost $1.2 million, according to a lawsuit filed Aug. 9 in Martin County.
Reynolds put the 12,500-square-foot waterfront house, which he called “Valhalla,” on the market in 2009 for $8.9 million, stated local newspapers.
The 75-year-old actor is perhaps ideal known for starring roles in the 1970s in “Deliverance” and “Smokey and the Bandit” and made a resurgence in recent years with starring roles in “Boogie Nights” and “Striptease.” He underwent heart bypass surgery last year.
